How does KI-Anonymizer work?

The macOS app anonymizes text locally on your Mac. The iPhone/iPad app Anonymisierer processes text, screenshots, photos, and supported files locally on the device. The Chrome browser extension supports anonymization directly in the browser. All variants are designed to clean up sensitive content before sharing it or pasting it into AI chatbots, email, documents, or other tools.

Does my text leave the device?

The anonymization step itself runs locally on the device. If you use this support page or the contact options listed here, the privacy notes on this page apply to those interactions.

Is the result always complete?

No. The app supports anonymization, but it does not replace human review. Before sharing, publishing, or using the output in a sensitive context, the result should always be checked.

Which platform is supported?

KI-Anonymizer is available as a native macOS app. In addition, there is the iPhone/iPad app Anonymisierer and a Chrome browser extension. Features and workflows vary by platform.

What happens with PDF files?

PDF files can be processed as text in the iPhone/iPad app. The PDF content is anonymized as plain text without the original formatting.

  • Apple NaturalLanguage and optional Apple Intelligence only support detection. They do not replace final human review.

App privacy

This privacy policy applies equally to the KI-Anonymisierer macOS app, the iPhone/iPad app Anonymisierer, and the Chrome browser extension.

  • The apps and the browser extension process supported content locally on the device or in the browser.
  • There is no cloud processing for the anonymization step.
  • The apps and the browser extension use no tracking, no analytics software, and no advertising.
  • There is no registration, no user account, and no subscription.
  • Text, images, and files are not sent to third parties in order to perform anonymization.

Privacy

KI-Anonymizer and Anonymisierer are designed to anonymize sensitive content directly on the device or locally in the browser. The anonymization step itself is performed without transmitting the content to external parties.

If you send a support request by email or through the contact form, the information you provide is used solely to handle your request.

The apps and the browser extension use no tracking, no advertising, and no user profiles. This support page itself uses no cookies and no user accounts. If you use external contact channels, the privacy policies of those providers also apply.
